ULTRA REALITY Begins!
From Apple Vision Pro to smart glasses to Brelyon’s new class of headset-free virtual displays, 2024 is poised to be a year of shake-up for developments in AR / VR and Extended Reality (XR). We have come a long way as a company and are proud to announce our products for 2024. You can see the full announcement video and its summary down here.
Ultra Reality and Ultra Reality Mini
Ultra Reality is Brelyon’s flagship product. Our Early Access Program has been running for just over a year. During this last year we were able to onboard 50 companies to our early access program and ship them EAP units. This allowed us to polish our product and distill our vision to an effective solution.
Ultra Reality offers an excellent solution for enterprise desktop applications by condensing the visuals of multi-monitor setups and projection systems into a compact 30" footprint. The product has won awards in 3 categories from Prism Awards of SPIE, and SID to Paul F. Forman awards of OSA OPTICA.
Ultra Reality Mini is a new addition to the Brelyon product family and rather a surprise announcement. With a 14" aperture size, it delivers a 40" image with about 0.7–1.5 meters of monocular depth. The display’s low-power profile and small footprint is amplified with Brelyon’s ray remapping technology, which enables expansion of the display’s viewing zone even further.
This display is made specifically to enable immersive applications in very small spaces while providing an alternative to big monitors and headsets. The small size of the display and lighter weight profile allows lowering torque in kinematic rigs, which is one of the main limiting factors in miniaturizing these setups.
While we are excited about virtual desktops in headset environments, we think there should be an alternative to wearing headsets 8 hours a day. UR mini is Brelyon’s bridge to that gap. By leveraging wavefront manipulation the device provides a curved image hovering further back behind the display.
Dr. Alok Mehta the COO of the company talked about the applications of the device. This ranges from enterprise visualization systems to simulation training and teleoperation. Ron Nelson the Sales Director of the company talked about the availability of the product and regional network to get access to the product. Ultra Reality is available immediately however the earliest individual deliveries will be for Q2 as the inventory is already sold out till that time and Ultra Reality mini is to be launched Q3 of 2024 while bookings can be made on the website.
Automotive Wave I
The essence of Brelyon technology is to be able to control the light for going beyond existing display experiences and this has resonated strongly with vehicle applications and environments. Brelyon’s Automotive Wave I is a set of solution to reimagine cabin experiences with Brelyon, whether it be multi-depth interfaces or immersive experiences. In Wave 1, the goal is to respect the traditional cabin design philosophy while dramatically boosting the functionality of the space. So less focus on wow factor or exotic interfaces; but more emphasis on efficiency, integrability, and functionality. The details of this segment is only available to OEMs and not available to public. But sufficient to say that Brelyon has been in contract with 5 major OEMS since 2023.
Software Announcements
Brelyon Suite offers a wide range of graphic capabilities, including real-time remapping and innovative ways to manipulate your desktop environment. Basic features include image readjustment for gaming or text-based applications, as well as merge and split options for multitasking in high-resolution terminals. The advanced version of Brelyon Suite introduces head-tracked virtual extension, providing an 8K experience synchronized with head movements for teleoperations and immersive applications. Additional features like Duplication Plus, Brelyon Origami, and Telescopic Scroll enhance the user experience, especially for programmers and content creators.
Brelyon Focal Studios, a part of the suite, is an intuitive software solution that allows users in entertainment, enterprise, or the automotive sector to convert existing 2D content into multi-focal experiences.
Using semantic segmentation algorithms and proprietary depth blending techniques, Brelyon Focal Studios enables the conversion of 2D video, RGBD data, or stereo data to multi-focal content that can then be rendered based on the physics of Brelyon hardware. “Users can choose between automatic conversion or manual options to tailor the content based on their artistic taste, marking a significant step in overcoming content bottlenecks in transitioning to new dimensions, such as headsets or glasses-free 3D displays” Said Tarushree Gandhi the computer vision engineer at Brelyon.
